Each week during the season, our staff searches the game stories to come up with a Rookie-of-the-Week,
an Offensive Player-of-the-Week, a Defensive Player-of-the-Week, and members of the Honor Roll.
We have been able to see a number of games and read the game stories before meeting to choose these honors.

Congratulations to the athletes and their programs!

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Jantien Gunter, Drexel

Gunter backstopped the Dragons to the top seed in the CAA Championships with a 1-0 win over Northeastern, in which she made 11 saves. She added four saves in the win over Hofstra as the keeper had 15 saves while allowing only one goal.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Sandra Penas, Rider


Penas was a part of five of Rider's six goals
on the week as the Broncos defeated the two top teams in the NEC to win the regular season title and the right to host the tournament. Penas scored the game-tying goal in the win over St. Francis, sending the Red Flashes to their first NEC loss, before scoring twice and adding an assist in the win over Monmouth, who came into the contest with an identical 5-1 NEC record.

Rookie of the Week: Gillian Pinder, Syracuse

Pinder helped the Orange win the 2012 Big East regular season, assisting on the game-tying goal before scoring the game-winner in the victory over Connecticut.

Division II -

Defensive Player of the Week: Sarah Wilcox, UMass-Lowell
 

Wilcox anchored a backline that allowed only 13 shots, and only 4 on goal, en route to the NE-10 tournament title. The RiverHawks closed the week with 205 consecutive minutes of shutout ball; Wilcox added an assist in the win over Stonehill to start the NE-10 tournament.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Michele Schrift, West Chester


Schrift had a hat trick in the PSAC title game, giving WCU their first PSAC title in school history. All three of her goals came in the second half.

Rookie of the Week: Victoria Gil, Lindenwood

Gil helped the Lions upset Limestone on the road, making seven saves in the game on Sunday, giving her eight on the week while allowing only two goals.

Division III - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Rachel Tannenbaum, Amherst

Tannenbaum backstopped Amherst to the NESCAC semifinals, making 27 saves while allowing only 2 goals. She made 16 saves in the quarterfinal game against Trinity, including two in overtime, to advance the Jeffs to the final weekend.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Erica Henderson, Salisbury


Henderson scored four of the SeaGulls' six goals this week, including both markers in the win over Elizabethtown and two of the goals in the win over TCNJ.

Rookie of the Week: Sarah Brock, Shenandoah

Brock scored the game-winner in the victory over Eastern Mennonite to send the Hornets to the ODAC tournament before playing on the backline in the shutout over Washington & Lee to give Shenandoah a berth in the ODAC semifinals for the first time in school history.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Carlie Tarbell, New Hampshire

Tarbell stopped 19 of 20 shots last week for a 0.47 GAA and .950 save percentage to backbone the Wildcats to victories against 13th-ranked Boston University and Providence. She recorded her first career shutout with a nine-save effort vs. BU to help the 'Cats secure at least a share of the America East conference regular-season title. Tarbell followed that with 10 saves in the overtime win at Providence in which she made seven stops in the first half.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Chelsea Armstrong, Northwestern


Armstrong collected the game-winning goal in Northwestern's narrow win over the Spartans on Friday before having a memorable day on Sunday. Armstrong tallied two goals in each half with the final one being the 100th of her storied career. She is just the ninth player in NCAA history to reach the milestone.

Rookie of the Week: Abbey Basom, Liberty

Basom tallied points in each of Liberty's three wins last week. She finished the week with eight shots, three goals and three assists. Against Davidson, the freshman tallied a pair of goals as the Lady Flames ran their win streak to four games.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kristin Arnold, West Chester
 

Arnold had 12 saves and pitched two shutouts as the Golden Rams did not allow a goal on the week, securing the top seed in the PSAC East.

Offensive Player of the Week:
April Daugherty, Merrimack


Daugherty had a hand in four of Merrimack's five goals on the week, scoring three times and assisting on a fourth. She had both goals in the win over UMass-Lowell and had a goal and an assist in the win over Adelphi as the Warriors clinched the NE-10 regular season title.

Rookie of the Week: Bailey McGinnis, Southern Connecticut

McGinnis kept her hot streak going as she had three goals over the two games for SCSU this week, helping the Owls to the fifth seed in the NE-10 tournament.

Division III - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Kaitlyn Warren, Univ. of New England

Warren posted 17 saves and allowed only two goals as UNE went 2-0 on the week, including a  3-2 victory over Endicott.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Kara Poirer, Husson


Poirier had a seven point week for the Eagles as she notched two assists in Husson's 4-3 win over Colby-Sawyer, and she scored two goals (including the game winner) and added another assist in the Eagles 6-5 victory over Castleton.

Rookie of the Week: Dayna Mercer, Geneseo

Rookie Mercer made nine saves as Geneseo defeated Cortland 2-1 in overtime. She followed that win up with a shutout against Oswego, sending the Blue Knights to the SUNYAC tournament as the No. 2 seed.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Thando Zono, Massachusetts

Zono helped the UMass defensive unit hold Syracuse to one goal and scored the game-winner at the other end as the Minutewomen upset the top-ranked Orange 2-1. She also led the backfield to a shutout of VCU and helped hold St. Louis to only two shots on the day.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Rachael Mack, Michigan


Mack was a part of five of Michigan's six goals on the week as the Wolverines won a pair of games against ranked opponents. She had a goal and an assist in the come-from-behind win over Michigan State and followed that up with two goals and an assist in the win over Ohio State.

Rookie of the Week: AshLeigh Sebia, Boston College

Sebia helped the Eagles to a 2-0 week, with both wins coming against top-20 teams. She scored the lone goal in the upset of Northeastern before adding a goal and an assist in the triumph over New Hampshire.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kerri Bergquist, Merrimack
 

Bergquist went 3-0 and held opponents to only two goals over 210 minutes last week. She limited the opposition to a 0.67 GAA, while boasting a .923 save percentage.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Bre White, Shippensburg


White kept the Lady Raiders rolling with two goals and four assists as Ship went 2-0. She scored twice, helping her team avenge an earlier loss to IUP with a 5-1 victory. She added four assists in the win over Mansfield.

Rookie of the Week: Bailey McGinnis, Southern Connecticut

McGinnis totaled five points in a 2-0 week for the Owls. She scored a pair of goals in the win over No. 10 Stonehill, and added an assist in the win over Saint Anselm.

Defensive Player of the Week: Claire Gianelle, Mary Washington

Gianelle posted 25 saves on the week while allowing only five goals as the Eagles went 3-0, including a defeat of top-ranked and previously undefeated Salisbury. She posted 12 saves in the win over the SeaGulls.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Hannah Tavella, Univ. of New England


Tavella powered the Nor'Easters to two wins on the week, scoring three of UNE's four goals in the overtime win over Nichols before scoring the opening goal in the win over Western New England.

Rookie of the Week: Megan Bolton, Eastern

Bolton helped the Eagles to a 2-1 week, notching four goals from her role in the backfield. She had the opening goal in the 2-1 loss to TCNJ while holding the Lions to eight shots on goal before scoring twice as Eastern upset Haverford 5-3. She closed out the week with a goal in the win over Misericordia.

Defensive Player of the Week: Sarah Mansfield, Connecticut

Mansfield had 13 saves as the Huskies remained undefeated on the season. She allowed only 1 goals in 140 minutes of action.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Allie Ahearn, Michigan State


Ahearn
was a part of three of Michigan State's four goals, including notching two game-winners.

Rookie of the Week: Lisa McCarthy, Northwestern

McCarthy kept up her hot streak by scoring four goals during the week, including a single marker in the win over Michigan before adding a hat trick in the win over Kent State.

Defensive Player of the Week: Megan Eppley, Bloomsburg
 

Eppley made 21 saves and allowed only three goals in Bloom's two wins, including the overtime victory over West Chester in which she made 12 saves. In the win over the Golden Rams, she preserved the chance for victory with a save in the extra frame. In the defeat of LIU Post, she made nine saves over the full game.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Anouk Sickman, IUP


Sickman kept IUP rolling as she had three goals on the week, notching both goals in the win over Slippery Rock and adding a marker in the win over Mansfield.

Rookie of the Week: Meghan Talerman, Bentley

Talerman scored twice during Bentley's 2-1 week, scoring an insurance goal in the upset of UMass-Lowell and notching the game-winner in the victory over American International.

Division III - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Jamie Dowling, Christopher Newport

Dowling backstopped the Captains to a pair of wins, including one over previously undefeated Mary Washington. She made 10 saves in the game, including six in the overtime periods. In the win over Bridgewater, Dowling did not allow a goal.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Amanda DeChent, Manhattanville


DeChent had a monster week for the Valiants, contributing to 12 of Manhattanville's 16 goals on the week. She had two goals, including the game-winner, in the victory over Hartwick and then scored all four goals in the overtime triumph against Wilkes. In the win over Rivier, DeChent had one goal and five assists as the Valiants went 3-0 on the week.

Rookie of the Week: Kylie Jones, Eastern

Jones made five saves and helped the Eagles shut out Messiah before keeping her shutout streak alive by not allowing a goal to DeSales.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Brittany Blass, Lafayette

Blass was the key to a defensive unit that allowed just one goal in each game and only one shot on goal in a 4-1 win at American. She was part of a defensive corner team that stopped 12 corners from Rider in a 3-1 win on Tuesday.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Michelle Vittese, Virginia


The Olympian was a part of all three goals as the Cavaliers defeated Maryland 3-2; she scored twice and assisted on the third goal. Vittese added two goals in the win over St. Joseph's

Rookie of the Week: Lisa McCarthy, Northwestern

McCarthy helped the Wildcats to a come-from-behind victory over Penn State, notching a goal and two assists as Northwestern defeated the Nittany Lions 5-4 in overtime.

Division II -

Defensive Player of the Week: Ciarra Delost, Shippensburg

Delost had a phenomenal week in the goal as she only allowed one goal to pass her in the three games. She helped her Red Raiders defeat Mercyhurst in a shutout, No 3 Bloomsburg in a 4-1 victory, and  No. 7 Millersville in another shutout. In a total of almost 164 minutes of playing time, Delost allowed only one goal which was on a 2-on-1 attack by Bloomsburg in the second half.  Against Bloomsburg, Delost came up big with a career-high 10 saves in 58:57 of action.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Nicole Bruce, IUP


Bruce powered the Crimson Hawks to three wins on the week, notching 12 points on six goals. She started the week with a two-goal performance against Seton Hill before adding a goal in the win over LIU Post. Bruce closed the week with a hat trick in the 4-3 double overtime win over East Stroudsburg

Rookie of the Week: Kiley Colucci, Assumption

Colucci posted ten points on three goals and four assists in a 3-1 week for the Hounds. She began the week assisting on both goals in the team’s 2-1 road win over No. 6-ranked Merrimack, followed by an assist at Saint Anselm on Saturday. Colucci also notched a hat trick, along with an assist, in a 7-3 road win at Mercy.

Division III - 

Defensive Player of the Week: Steph McDonald, Franklin & Marshall

McDonald led a defense that did not allow a goal on the week, including a shutout of Messiah in which McDonald assisted on the game-winning goal and had a defensive save.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Calli Berryman, King's


Berryman was a part of seven goals this week, including a four-goal performance against Marywood and a goal and an assist in the win over Eastern. She scored all of the Lady Monarchs' goals against Marywood and was a part of both goals in the win over the Eagles. She added a goal in the win over Cedar Crest in the middle of the week.

Rookie of the Week: Haylie Dolan, Keene State

Dolan helped the Owls notch a pair of wins, scoring twice in both games. She had the game-winner in the win over Plymouth State and added two goals in the win over Western Connecticut.

Defensive Player of the Week: Leann Stiver, Syracuse

Stiver helped the Orange shutout Princeton with six saves and added four more saves against Rutgers as Syracuse did not allow a goal on the week.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Kelsey Kolojejchick, North Carolina


Kolojejchick helped the Tar Heels to a pair of victories on the week against ranked teams, notching eight points from three goals and two assists. She had one goal and one assist against Duke and added two goals and an assist against Stanford.

Rookie of the Week: Sarah Breen, Old Dominion

Breen assisted on the game-winner against Northeastern and added a goal and two assists in the win against Hofstra as the Lady Monarchs won twice on the road.

Defensive Player of the Week: Sarah Dunbar, Merrimack

Dunbar helped lead the Warriors to a 3-0 week, in which they posted two shutouts. Dunbar spearheaded a defensive attack that only allowed two goals in 210 minutes of action.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Michele Schrift, West Chester


Schrift notched nine points on the week as the Golden Rams went 2-0. She had a hat trick in the win over Millersville before going 1+1 in the win over LIU Post.

Rookie of the Week: Audrey Dolloff, Southern Connecticut

Dolloff posted her first collegiate shutout with eight saves in a 5-0 win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday, and also recorded a career-high 21 saves in a 4-0 loss to No. 8 Merrimack on Thursday.

Brooks backstopped the Panthers to two ranked wins, making 14 saves while allowing only two goals in games against Bowdoin and Amherst.

Cannon was a part of five of the Jumbos' seven goals this week as Tufts won three games, including a big NESCAC win over Trinity.

Rookie of the Week: Maddie Breschi, Kenyon

Breschi notched two game-winners on the week as the Ladies went 3-0, including a key conference win over rival Denison.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Megan Bozek, New Hampshire

Bozek backboned a UNH defensive effort that surrendered just three goals in two games, limited Pacific to three shots and held the nation's leading scorer and last week's National Offensive Player of the Week, NU's Crystal Poland, off the scoresheet in 87-plus minutes of action. Bozek made two defensive saves – one in both the first and second halves, including one against Poland – and scored the game-tying goal against Northeastern that sent the game into extra sessions.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Charlotte Craddock, North Carolina


Craddock scored three goals on the weekend as the Tar Heels won a pair of games against ranked competition. On Friday against Old Dominion, she scored the third goal in UNC's 3-2 win over the visiting Lady Monarchs. On Sunday at Wake Forest, she had both goals in a 2-1 win over the  Demon Deacons.

Rookie of the Week: Cate Johnson, William & Mary

Johnson helped the Tribe to a pair of wins over the weekend, including an upset of Boston University in which she made six saves in the shutout victory. Sunday, she made seven saves against the RedHawks, including five in the final six minutes to preserve the 2-1 victory.  For the week, she stopped 13 of 14 shots (92.9%) made against her,

Defensive Player of the Week: Lauren Sotzin, Millersville

Sotzin pitched 210 minutes of shutout hockey on the week, making 19 saves and allowing no goals as the Marauders played three consecutive games without allowing a goal.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Michele Schrift, West Chester


Schrift he
lped the Golden Rams to a 3-0 week that included two wins over top-10 teams. She scoredat least one point in each game, notching an assist on the first goal in the win over Bloomsburg, the second goal in the win over IUP, and a goal and two assists in the win over Seton Hill.

Rookie of the Week: Keliann Margiotta, LIU Post

Margiotta notched nine points on the week, including four goals and an assist as the Pioneers went 2-1. She had a goal in the win over East Stroudsburg before getting a hat trick and adding an assist in the PSAC win over Mansfield.

Division III -

Defensive Player of the Week:  Steph Colombo, Rowan

Colombo made 21 saves on the week and allowed only 3 goals as Rowan was undefeated over the week. She made 14 saves in the upset of Catholic as the Profs allowed only two goals to nab the victory.


Offensive Player of the Week: 
Kelly Blackhurst, Skidmore


Blackhurst had all three game-winning goals on the week as the Thoroughbreds went 3-0. She had four goals and three assists, playing a role in over half of Skidmore's tallies over the seven days.

Rookie of the Week: Mary Kate Breen, Anna Maria

Breen was solid in the cage for the AMCats, who went 3-1 behind Breen's 29 saves over four games. She posted a save percentage of 82.9% as Anna Maria defeated three teams on the week.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Ashley Dalisera, American

Dalisera made eighteen saves in the two games for the Eagles this weekend, allowing only one goal as American went 2-0, including a double-overtime victory over Massachusetts. In that game against the Minutewomen, Dalisera made 14 saves, with four coming in the two overtime sessions.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Crystal Poland, Northeastern


Poland started the weekend with two goals against Virginia before scoring all three goals in the 3-1 victory over Michigan State. She had five of the Huskies' six goals on the weekend against a pair of ranked teams.

Rookie of the Week: Stephanie Ebersole, Lock Haven

Ebersole helped the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 week, notching the game-tying goal with under four minutes to play against Robert Morris before scoring a goal and adding an assist in the win over Kent State.

Division II -

Defensive Player of the Week: Lauren Sotzin, Millersville

Sotzin led the Marauders to a pair of victories on the opening weekend, making eight saves while allowing only one goal to two top-10 teams. In the win over Bentley, Sotzin made three saves, including one on a penalty stroke, to keep the Falcons off the board. In the overtime victory over UMass-Lowell, Sotzin made five saves, including one in overtime, to help Millersville to the upset.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Jenna DiSabatino, Bloomsburg


Sabatino played a major role in helping the Huskies go 3-0 last week, including wins over Adelphi, Saint Anselm, and Stonehill. In a 3-1 win over Adelphi in the season-opener, with Bloomsburg holding a slim one-goal lead, she scored an insurance goal late in the contest to give the Huskies a two-goal cushion. In Saturday's 6-2 win over Stonehill, she scored two goals, including an early goal in the first 10 minutes that gave the Huskies a 2-0 lead. DiSabatino wrapped up her opening week with two more goals and an assist in Sunday's 6-1 win over St. Anselm. After a scoreless first half, she scored the eventual game-winner in the second minute of the second half to open the scoring. She also assisted on Bloomsburg's second goal of the game just over nine minutes later.

Rookie of the Week: Brittany Davis, Seton Hill

Davis helped the Griffins to a pair of victories in the season opening weekend, scoring twice and adding two assists between the two games.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Erin Wunsch, Alvernia

Wunsch went 163 minutes without allowing a goal on the weekend, shutting out both Kean and York en route to the tournament title at York. She made 19 saves between the two games, including three in overtime on Sunday.


Offensive Player of the Week: 
Michelle Hagel, Montclair State

Rookie of the Week: Michaela George, Southern Maine

George scored twice in each of the first two games of her college career to help the Huskies open the season with a 2-0 record. She scored the opening goal of the season to give Southern Maine a lead they would not relinquish against Wheaton and then scored twice in the second half to ice the game against Neumann.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Iona Holloway, Syracuse

Holloway led a defense that shut out North Carolina for the first time since 2009, helping the Orange upset the Tar Heels 1-0. The senior defensive forced several turnovers in Saturday's victory over the Tar Heels, including several key tackles in the circle. The Glasgow, Scotland native was also instrumental on the defensive corner unit, thwarting seven UNC penalty corners, including one in overtime.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Kat Sharkey, Princeton


Sharkey had a monster week for the Tigers, who defeated a pair of top-10 teams behind seven goals from the senior. In the 5-2 win over Duke, Sharkey had three goals and added an assist. She topped that performance by scoring all four goals in the win over Wake Forest, giving her a hand in eight of Princeton's nine goals on the week.

Rookie of the Week: Caroline Troncelleti, Northwestern

Troncelleti was key in the Wildcats' sweep in California, posting four goals and an assist in NU's three wins. She had a hat trick as Northwestern upset Stanford and notched a goal and an assist in the win over Pacific.

Defensive Player of the Week: Lauren Sotzin, Millersville

Sotzin led the Marauders to a pair of victories on the opening weekend, making eight saves while allowing only one goal to two top-10 teams. In the win over Bentley, Sotzin made three saves, including one on a penalty stroke, to keep the Falcons off the board. In the overtime victory over UMass-Lowell, Sotzin made five saves, including one in overtime, to help Millersville to the upset.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Jenna DiSabatino, Bloomsburg


Sabatino played a major role in helping the Huskies go 3-0 last week, including wins over Adelphi, Saint Anselm, and Stonehill. In a 3-1 win over Adelphi in the season-opener, with Bloomsburg holding a slim one-goal lead, she scored an insurance goal late in the contest to give the Huskies a two-goal cushion. In Saturday's 6-2 win over Stonehill, she scored two goals, including an early goal in the first 10 minutes that gave the Huskies a 2-0 lead. DiSabatino wrapped up her opening week with two more goals and an assist in Sunday's 6-1 win over St. Anselm. After a scoreless first half, she scored the eventual game-winner in the second minute of the second half to open the scoring. She also assisted on Bloomsburg's second goal of the game just over nine minutes later.

Rookie of the Week: Brittany Davis, Seton Hill

Davis helped the Griffins to a pair of victories in the season opening weekend, scoring twice and adding two assists between the two games.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Erin Wunsch, Alvernia

Wunsch went 163 minutes without allowing a goal on the weekend, shutting out both Kean and York en route to the tournament title at York. She made 19 saves between the two games, including three in overtime on Sunday.

Division I -

Defensive Player of the Week: Ayla Halus, Penn State

Halus led the Nittany Lions to a pair of upset wins against top-10 teams on the week, making 11 saves while allowing only 4 goals to two top-10 teams.


Offensive Player of the Week:
Jaclyn Gaudioso Radvany, North Carolina


Gaudioso Radvany helped the Tar Heels to a pair of top-10 wins on the weekend, putting in two goals in each of the two games. She had a pair of goals in the win over Michigan and followed that up with a pair against Iowa.

Rookie of the Week: Dulcie Davies, Stanford

After posting a shutout in the opening game against La Salle, Davies came up huge for the Cardinal in the matchup against Maryland, keeping Stanford in the game the entire time. She repeatedly denied the Maryland attack, making nine saves on the day, including some saves on point blank shots, before falling in the 100th minute in a 3-2 loss.
